Polished concrete

Polished Concrete Flooring

Polished concrete gives you a clean, modern floor that is built from the slab itself.

We transform existing concrete into a durable, low maintenance surface using mechanical grinding, densification, and progressive polishing. The result is a professional finish that holds up to daily traffic and routine cleaning, without a coating that can peel. Polished concrete is a strong fit for showrooms, retail, offices, corridors, lobbies, basements, and many commercial spaces. If your slab has heavy damage, unevenness, coatings, or moisture issues, we will assess it and recommend the best finish level or an alternative system if polishing will not deliver the look you expect.

Benefits

Built for traffic Low Maintenance Seamless Look

Polished concrete performs well in busy environments because the concrete itself is hardened and refined. It handles daily foot traffic and routine use better than many decorative surface coatings that rely on adhesion alone.

Most polished concrete floors require simple routine cleaning. Dust mopping or vacuuming to remove grit and damp mopping with a neutral cleaner is usually enough for day to day upkeep.

Reduced Dusting and Cleaner Surfaces

Unfinished concrete can dust over time. Densification and polishing reduce that dusting and create a smoother surface that is easier to keep clean.

Brighter, More Professional Interiors

Higher reflectivity can improve the look of interior spaces. Many commercial clients prefer polished concrete because it presents clean, modern, and consistent across larger areas.

Polished concrete gives a continuous, minimal look that pairs well with modern interiors. It works in both residential settings and commercial spaces where a clean aesthetic matters.

Finish Options

Choosing Sheen Level Finish Aggregate Exposure Colour and Character

Choose the finish that fits your space and maintenance expectations.

  • Matte: lower reflectivity, hides wear well
  • Satin: balanced look and easier upkeep
  • High gloss: maximum reflectivity and visual impact

Aggregate exposure depends on how much of the slab surface is removed and what the concrete reveals.

  • Minimal exposure: smoother, more uniform look
  • Medium exposure: more character and stone appearance
  • Heavy exposure: strongest stone like look, more visual texture

We can keep the natural concrete look or adjust the tone using dyes or stains depending on the slab and desired style. We will recommend options that remain consistent over time and suit the environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers for common questions

How does the whole process work?
We start with a slab assessment to confirm polishing is appropriate and to set expectations based on the concrete condition. Then we grind the surface, complete repairs, apply densifier to harden the slab, and polish through multiple grit stages to achieve the desired sheen. If stain protection is needed, we add a guard or sealer. You receive clear care guidance and return to service timing.
Will cracks and patches still show
Polished concrete can show the natural character of the slab. Repairs improve performance and appearance, but older patches and hairline cracks may remain visible, especially at higher gloss. We aim to minimize visual distraction, but we also keep expectations realistic so you get the finish you want.
Is polished concrete slippery
Slip risk depends on sheen level and whether the surface gets wet. High gloss can feel slick in wet environments. We recommend the appropriate finish level and protection option for the space so you get a balance of appearance, traction, and easy cleaning.
Can you polish any concrete slab
Not every slab is a good candidate. Severe damage, moisture issues, heavy coatings, and unevenness can affect both scope and final appearance. We assess the slab and recommend the best approach, including alternate systems if polishing will not meet your expectations.
How long does it take and when can I use the space
Time depends on prep and the finish level selected. Grinding and repairs can add time, especially on older slabs. Return to service depends on conditions and any protection products used. We provide a clear timeline before the job starts so you can plan.
How do I maintain polished concrete
Keep grit off the floor with regular dust mopping or vacuuming. Damp mop with a neutral cleaner. Avoid acids and harsh chemicals. For higher stain risk areas, follow the care guidance for the protective guard so the surface stays consistent and easy to clean.
