Questions About Us

How much does epoxy flooring cost?
Epoxy pricing depends on three things: square footage, how much preparation the slab needs, and which system you choose. A brand new, clean slab with minimal repairs costs less than an older slab with cracks, oil staining, previous coatings, or uneven areas that need patching and grinding. System choice matters too because metallic, flake, and solid colour have different material build and labour steps. If you send approximate size, a few photos, and how the space is used, we can give you a clear quote and explain what is included.
How long does installation take?
Most projects take 1 to 3 days on site, but the schedule depends on prep and the coating build. Grinding and repairs are often the biggest variable because we do not rush the foundation layer of the job. A simple garage with a standard system can be quicker than a large commercial area with multiple zones, safety access requirements, or extra cure windows. We confirm the work plan and timeline before starting so you know what to expect.
When can I walk on it and when can I park a car
Return to service depends on the system, topcoat, and site conditions like temperature and humidity. In general, light foot traffic is usually possible sooner than rolling loads and vehicles. Cars typically need more cure time than walking. If the space is cold or damp, cure time can increase. We will give you a specific return to service schedule for your job so you are not guessing.
Will epoxy peel, bubble, or lift?
Most failures come from two causes: poor surface preparation or moisture issues in the slab. We reduce that risk by mechanically grinding the concrete for proper adhesion and by checking slab condition so the system matches the environment. If moisture risk is present, we recommend the right primer or moisture mitigation approach instead of forcing a standard install. No contractor can promise a floor will never have issues, but correct prep and correct system selection are what prevent the common failures.
Do you repair cracks and pits first?
Yes. We grind and repair cracks, spalls, chips, and damaged areas before coating. That said, concrete can move over time, especially at control joints and active cracks. Repairs improve appearance and performance, but they cannot stop all future movement. We will tell you what can be made nearly invisible, what may remain faintly visible, and what might telegraph back over time so expectations are realistic.
What is the difference between flake epoxy and solid colour epoxy?
Flake epoxy is popular because it hides dust, minor imperfections, and everyday marks better than a flat solid finish. It also allows us to tune texture for grip. Solid colour epoxy is a clean, uniform look that works well in utility rooms, corridors, storage areas, and many commercial spaces where a simple finish is preferred. Both can be durable when installed correctly. The best choice depends on how you use the space, how often you clean it, and what look you want.
Is epoxy slippery?
A smooth glossy coating can be slippery when wet, especially in entry areas, wash bays, or anywhere water is present. We can add traction options to improve grip while keeping the floor easy to clean. The key is choosing the right texture level for the environment. Too smooth can be unsafe, too aggressive can trap dirt and make cleaning harder. We recommend the right balance for your space.
Does epoxy yellow in sunlight?
Epoxy can amber with UV exposure, especially near windows or doors that get strong direct sun. If UV exposure is a factor, we recommend a UV resistant topcoat or a system better suited for sun exposure. We will ask about sunlight during quoting so the finish stays consistent over time.
Can you install over existing epoxy, paint, or tile?
Sometimes, yes, but it depends on what is currently there and whether it is bonded well. Many existing coatings fail under a new layer if they are not mechanically removed or properly prepared. The safest approach is grinding to sound concrete or doing adhesion testing to confirm the existing coating can be a stable base. Tile removal and adhesive residue usually require extra prep. We will assess and recommend the correct approach rather than coating over unknown layers.
What concrete condition do you need for polished concrete?
Polished concrete quality depends heavily on the slab. Cracks, patchwork, stains, and uneven areas can show more in a polished finish because polishing increases clarity and reflectivity. We can still polish many slabs, but the final look is influenced by the concrete’s history. We will discuss what level of aggregate exposure and sheen makes sense and whether repairs or stain protection are needed for your space.
Do you offer options that are easy to clean and maintain?
Yes. Epoxy and polished concrete are both chosen because they are easier to maintain than porous concrete or grout lines. For epoxy, the topcoat selection matters because it affects stain resistance, scratch visibility, and cleanability. For polished concrete, densification and optional guards improve stain resistance and reduce dusting. We provide care guidance so maintenance is simple and consistent.
Will hot tires damage the floor in a garage?
Hot tire pickup is usually tied to weak prep, incompatible products, or coating applied over contamination. Proper grinding and a system designed for garage use greatly reduces the risk. Keeping the floor clean and avoiding harsh chemicals also helps. If your garage sees heavy use, we recommend a build and topcoat that is designed for that environment.
What information do you need to quote accurately?
The fastest way is: square footage (even approximate), photos of the floor, location, and how the area is used. Tell us if the floor has cracks, oil stains, previous coatings, moisture issues, or heavy equipment. If this is a multi area site, tell us if there are access restrictions, operating hours, safety requirements, or phased work zones. With that info, we can quote accurately and plan the install properly.
Do you handle commercial sites with scheduling and access requirements?
Yes. We can work with site schedules, staged areas, and access coordination when needed. We keep scope clear and provide practical information like return to service timing and maintenance guidance. If documentation is required for site access, tell us during quoting so it is handled up front.
Do you provide a warranty?
Warranty depends on the system, site conditions, and how the area is used and maintained. We explain what is covered, what is not covered, and what care is required. The main goal is to build the right system the first time so the floor performs long term.
